The seven chapters cover the necessary parts of reading instruction.

Section 1 Reading to Your Child - This first section helps you get the most out of your reading.  It includes six things you should do if you want to be successful reading to your child.
Section 2 Print Awareness- Section two informs you of the type of print and book skills your child needs to read proficiently.  It also gives you some basic research, strategies and activities to use with your child.
Section 3 Phonemic Awareness - Phonemic Awareness is the Number 1 predictor of a child's reading success.  This section provides you with research, fun activities, and strategies you can teach your child.
Section 4 Decoding - This section shows you how to combine the three skills needed to decode writing.  If any of these skills are poor, the child will struggle.
Section 5 Guided Reading - Guided Reading is a process that you use with your child, while they are reading to you.  It utilizes pre-reading, during-reading and post-reading strategies to ensure comprehension.
Section 6 Phonics - Reading is not possible without phonics.  this section is not a complete phonics program, but a tool that will make your phonics program more successful.
Section 7 Independent Reading - Independent reading is another part of the puzzle that is used already by many of us.  Similar to Section 1, Section 7 provides ways to get more out of your time and effort.

This is not a program on its own, but a supplement to reinforce the skills needed to be a proficient reader.
